194. GALLEGO CRESPO, Juan. Torreperogil
(Jaén) 1885 - Mexico 1974.
From his youth a prestigious militant of Andalusian anarchism. A fine article-writer,
public speaker and lecturer of some stature, he was a passionate debater. In the teen
years of the century he toured Córdoba and Seville: in 1911 he was living in Bujalance,
from where he fled after he was accused of having circulated anti-militarist propaganda
material in the barracks. In 1913 he settled in Seville, earning his living as a
photographer, helping out at the workers’ centre and lecturing on the anarchist
ideal: in 1915 he began on a pilgrimage through Córdoba district and three years later
was in Seville where he founded and directed Acción Solidaria: that same year, he
attended the FNA congress in Valencia and moved to the Levante region: there he was to
contribute to Solidaridad Obrera (Valencia) and would represent some of the local unions
at the La Comedia congress. He remained active into the years of the republic as a
respected militant (in 1938 he represented the CNT at meetings of the MLE committees). In
1939 he served on the controversial General Council of the MLE (Paris February 1939).
Later he moved to Mexico where he remained up until his death.

De su juventud un militante prestigioso de anarquismo andaluz. Artículista y escritor
fino, portavoz público y disertante de alguna estatura, él era un polemista apasionado.
En los años del adolescente del siglo él recorrió Córdoba y Sevilla: en 1911 él
estaba viviendo en Bujalance, de donde él huyó después de que él se acusó de haber
circulado material de propaganda anti-militarista en los cuarteles. En 1913 se estableció
en Sevilla y vivió como fotógrafo, ayuda a los obreros ' centran y diserta en el ideal
anarquista: en 1915 él empezó después en una peregrinación a través del distrito de
Córdoba y tres años que estaba en Sevilla donde él fundó y dirigió Acción Solidaria:
ese mismo año, él asistió al congreso de FNA en Valencia y movió a la región de
Levante: allí él estaba contribuir a Solidaridad Obrera (Valencia) y representaría
algunas de las uniones locales al La el congreso de Comedia. Él permanecía activo en los
años de la república como un militante respetado (en 1938 él representó el CNT a las
reuniones de los comités de MLE). En 1939 él sirvió en el Concilio General polémico
del MLE (París el 1939 de febrero). Después él fué a México donde él permanecería
hasta su muerte. |
