341. FOUNDATION CONFERENCE OF THE FAI in VALENCIA 1927.
The FAI was founded at a meeting (Conference) held on 25 and 26 July
1927 in the Valencia area: apparently the initial meeting was in Patraix (in the home of
Aurora López) and a follow-up meeting on a beach near Valencia. (Opinions are divided as
to whether the beach in question was Cabañal, Saler, Malvarrosa or Tremolar. It all

What we can be sure about is that at the start of 1927 Progreso
Fernández toured the Valencia comarca making preparations for the Conference and that the
selection of Valencia as its location was due to the fact that the July holidays would
favour the secrecy and security of the Conference.
The Conference was attended by the National Federation of the Anarchist
Groups of Spain (Llop and Miguel Jiménez), the Levante, Andalusian and Catalan regional
federations of anarchist groups (the latter federation apparently represented by Marcet
and Vidalet) , the local federations of anarchist groups from Granada, Elche, Madrid,
Valencia and Seville, the Castellón and Alicante provincial federations of anarchist
groups, (8) anarchist groups from Valencia, and a number of individuals (Domingo Torres
for one). Also present were the Portuguese Anarchist Union (UAP) - represented by Sousa
and De Santos and Márquez for certain and possibly by Quental as well - the CNT from
Levante and Catalonia, a delegation from the anarchist groups of Catalonia, Barcelona
anarchist groups, the Seine (Paris) regional federation of anarchist groups, and the
International Anarchist Secretariat. Among the messages of support we should mention those
from: the National Federation of Spanish-speaking Anarchist Groups in France, the Zaragoza
local federation of anarchist groups, Anarchist-Communist Union, Le Libertaire (Paris),
the CGT and A Batalha (from Portugal), the Anti-Militarist International and the BIA
(Holland), the Pyrénées Orientales, Arde and Ariège regional federation of anarchist
groups, the San Juan de Luz local anarchist federation, anarchist groups from Toulouse and
Vizcaya, the newspapers Cultura Proletaria (New York), Acción Social Obrera (San Feliu)
and La Revista Blanca: and support from individuals such as Maymón, Buenacasa and
Alberola. Among those in attendance, we can be certain that Tello, España, Gallego
Crespo, Progreso Fernández, Rodríguez, Noja Ruiz, Cabello, González, Joaquín
Ferrer, Fandiño, Arnica and Falomir were present.
The onference was chaired and the opening address was delivered by
Miguel Jiménez (secretary of the anarchist groups of Spain), after which credentials were
read out and there was a report on the work accomplished thus far by Jiménez’s
national committee. Then the debate got underway and the following accords were reached:
1. - That anarchist groups ought to take an interest in all aspects of life (education,
propaganda, agitation..) 2. - That each group would be free to engage in whatever
activities it might please, although unity of action and in propaganda terms should be
sought. 3. - That they should involve themselves in naturist, Esperantist and like
grpupings of anarchist persuasion. 4. - That they would not oppose cooperativist ventures.
5. - That there should be a working relationship (trabazón) with the CNT, albeit with
both the CNT and the FAI retaining their own autonomy and federations. Joint meetings
should be held. 6. - That the Union or FAI should be set up through amalgamation of the
Portuguese Anarchist Union (UAP), the National Federation of the Anarchist Groups of Spain
and the Federation of Spanish-speaking Anarchist Groups in France, although no new
committee should be set up: one of the existiong ones should temporarily assume
responsibility for representing the FAI. The peninsukar committee would be rotated between
Spain, France and Portugal, with the first one drawn from Portugal. 7. - There was to be a
campaign of agitation in opposition to the dictatorships in Spain and Portugal. 8. - That
they should take and hand in any upheaval, ensuring that it was wrested from the hans of
political leaders and that the people’s action was channeled. All truck with
politicians was rejected and the only accommodation would be with the CNT. 9. - The
anarchist movement had the capacity for reconstructive effort on an anti-authoritarian and
federalist basis. 10. - That an action committee was to be set up with an eye to trade
union organisation and to organise groups. 11. - That they should ensure that the
prisoners’ aid committees were made up of CNT and FAI members. 12. - That, for want
of information, any pronouncement upon the anarchists’ Organisational Platform (the
so-called Arshinov Platform) should be delayed. 13. - That they should affiliate to the
IWA and the Anarchist International. 14. - That they should seek, by means of a worl
conference, to weld the IWA and the Anarchist International into one single international
anarchist organisation. 15. - Given the refusal of the Portuguese to provide the
FAI’s peninsular committee, its place of residence was fixed, temporarily, in
Seville. 16. - A bulletin should be drawn up and published. |

La CONFERENCIA de la FUNDACIÓN DEL FAI en VALENCIA 1927.
El FAI se fundó a una reunión (Conferencia) esperó 25 y 26 el 1927 de julio en el área
de Valencia: al parecer la reunión inicial estaba en Patraix (en la casa de Aurora
López) y una continuación que se encuentra en una Valencia cercana playera. (Las
opiniones son dividido acerca de si la playa en cuestión era Cabañal, Saler, Malvarrosa

Lo sobre el que nosotros podemos estar seguros es eso a la salida de 1927 Progreso
Fernández recorrió la comarca de Valencia que hace preparaciones para la Conferencia y
que la selección de Valencia como su situación era debida al hecho que las fiestas del
julio habría favor el secreto y seguridad de la Conferencia.
A la Conferencia fue asistida por la Federación Nacional de los Grupos Anarquistas de
España (Llop y Miguel Jiménez), el Levante, federaciones regionales andaluzas y
catalanas de grupos anarquistas (la última federación al parecer representada por Marcet
y Vidalet), las federaciones locales de grupos anarquistas de Granada, Elche, Madrid,
Valencia y Sevilla, el Castellón y Alicante las federaciones provincianas de grupos
anarquistas, (8) los grupos anarquistas de Valencia, y varios individuos (Domingo Torres
para uno). También el presente sea la Unión Anarquista portuguesa (UAP) - representado
por Sousa y De Santos y Márquez con toda seguridad y posiblemente por Quental también -
el CNT de Levante y Cataluña, una comisión de los grupos anarquistas de Cataluña,
Barcelona los grupos anarquistas, el Seine (París) la federación regional de grupos
anarquistas, y la Secretaría Anarquista Internacional. Entre los mensajes de apoyo
nosotros debemos mencionar aquéllos de: la Federación Nacional de Grupos del Anarquista
hispanohablantes en Francia, el Zaragoza la federación local de grupos anarquistas,

El onference era chaired y la dirección de la apertura fue entregado por Miguel Jiménez
(secretaria de los grupos anarquistas de España) después de que las credenciales se
leyeron fuera y había un informe en el trabajo logrado así lejos por el comité nacional
de Jiménez. Entonces el debate consiguió pasando y los acuerdos siguientes fueron
alcanzados: 1. - ese grupos del anarquista han de mostrar un interés por todos los
aspectos de vida (educación, propaganda, la agitación..) 2. - Que cada grupo sería
libre comprometer en actividades cualquier que podría agradar, aunque la unidad de
acción y en términos de la propaganda debe buscarse. 3. - que ellos deben involucrarse
en naturist, el Esperantista y como el grpupings de persuasión anarquista. 4. - que ellos
no opondrían venturas del cooperativist. 5. - que debe haber una relación del
funcionamiento (trabazón) con el CNT, aunque con el CNT y " el FAI que retienen su
propia autonomía y federaciones. Deben celebrarse reuniones de la juntura. 6. - que la
Unión o FAI deben prepararse a través de la fusión de la Unión Anarquista portuguesa
(UAP), la Federación Nacional de los Grupos Anarquistas de España y la Federación de
Grupos del Anarquista hispanohablantes en Francia, aunque ningún nuevo comité debe
prepararse: uno del ones del existiong debe asumir responsabilidad temporalmente por
representar el FAI. El comité del peninsukar se rodaría entre España, Francia y
Portugal, con el primero deducido de Portugal. 7. - había ser una campaña de agitación
en oposición a las dictaduras en España y Portugal. 8. - que ellos deben tomar y deben
presentar cualquier levantamiento y asegura que se arrebató del hans de líderes
políticos y que la acción de las personas fue encauzada. Todos transportan en camión
con políticos se rechazó y el único alojamiento estaría con el CNT. 9. - el movimiento
anarquista tenía la capacidad por el esfuerzo del reconstructive en un anti-autoritario y
la base federalista. 10. - Que un comité de acción sería preparado con un ojo al
organisation del sindicato y para organizar grupos. 11. - Que ellos deben asegurar que los
prisioneros ' ayudan que los comités se compusieron de CNT y miembros de FAI. 12. - Que,
para la necesidad de información, cualquier declaración en los anarquistas la '
Organisational Plataforma (la Plataforma de Arshinov llamado) debe tardarse. 13. - Que
ellos deben afiliarse al IWA y el Anarquista Internacional. 14. - Que ellos deben buscar,
por medio de una conferencia del worl, para soldar al IWA y el Anarquista Internacional en
un solos organisation del anarquista internacionales. 15. - Dado la negativa del
portugués para proporcionar el el comité del peninsular de FAI, su lugar de residencia
era fijo, temporalmente, en Sevilla. 16. - Un boletín debe prepararse y debe publicarse. |
